LKC FES FYP Poster Competition and Industry Interaction Day

Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) hosted its biannual Final Year Project (FYP) Poster Competition and Industry Interaction Day (IID) for the January 2024 trimester on 23 April 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall (MPH) of UTAR Sungai Long Campus.

The competition provided students with an opportunity to display their skills, ideas and talent while also offering them valuable experience in tackling real-life obstacles. It also aimed at motivating them to actively participate in external competitions and enhance their professional development.

The FYP Poster Competition and Industry Interaction Day is one of the faculty’s highly anticipated events. It served as a platform for final-year students to highlight their independence, originality, and ethical research practices. Furthermore, it aimed to foster a culture of innovation and curiosity, encouraging students to delve deeper into their research interests while preparing them for the competitive landscape beyond academia.

It saw a total of 54 shortlisted posters under nine different tracks, out of 389 posters submitted by 429 students from various LKC FES departments. The nine tracks were Track One: Department of Architecture & Sustainable Design (DASD), Track Two: Department of Mathematical and Actuarial Sciences (DMAS), Track Three: Department of Mechatronics and BioMedical Engineering (DMBE), Track Four: Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (D3E), Track Five: Department of Internet Engineering and Computer Science (DIECS), Track Six: Department of Surveying (DS), Track Seven: Department of Civil Engineering (DCI), Track Eight: Department of Mechanical and Material Engineering (DMME) and Track Nine: Department of Chemical Engineering (DCL).

Organisers and judges at the FYP Poster Competition and Industry Interaction Day

The posters were evaluated by a total of 21 judges based on the poster’s appearance, content and organisation, as well as the student’s oral presentation. The top three poster winners under each track were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes, and took home RM300, RM200 and RM100 respectively. All the participants also received a certificate of participation. Furthermore, the winner of the Most-liked Poster Award, was awarded a cash prize of RM150 and a certificate.
