Xidian University and UTAR have taken a significant step towards strengthening the ties between China and Malaysia with the establishment of the China-Malaysia Institute of Science and Technology Innovation. The formalisation of this partnership was marked by an agreement signing ceremony held on 26 April 2024 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
The event was attended by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Xidian University President Prof Zhang Xinliang acting as the signatories.
Prof Dato’ Ewe stated that the partnership was set to enhance research and innovation in critical technological fields such as Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), while promoting student exchange and collaborative academic research.
Prof Zhang, on the other hand, discussed the
institute’s role in addressing global technological challenges and
furthering the application of scientific findings. He noted that their goal
was to collaboratively surmount key technological obstacles and enhance
industrial development in both countries and the broader region.
The establishment of the China-Malaysia Institute of Science and Technology Innovation represents a forward-thinking approach to international collaboration, ensuring mutual benefits and long-term effectiveness based on principles of equality and mutual benefit. This partnership is poised to become a cornerstone of industrial and educational transformation in the region, heralding a new era of interconnected development.
