MoU with Shandong Communication and Media College, China

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held between UTAR and Shandong Communication and Media College, China on 25 March 2024 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Communication and Media College Ms Sun Qianyun.

Shandong Communication and Media College representatives who were present at the ceremony were Vice President Ms Han Yuling, Director of Admissions and Employment Mr He Dongliang and Head of Department of Journalism and Communication Mr Liu Chuanlin.

Additionally, delegates from Shanghai Qiaocheng Education Technology Co., Ltd., including General Manager Mr Hu Tao, Deputy General Manager Mr Zhang Tao, and General Manager of Overseas Company Mr Wang Junyurui, were in attendance. Dato’ Goh Hin San, President of Han Culture Centre Malaysia Sdn Bhd, was also present at the ceremony.

On hand to welcome them were Director of Office of International Affairs Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Head of Department of Media Mr Anthony Gandolfo Miranti Jr, FCI Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Ts Dr Ang Kok Yew and Director of Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Mr Lee Choy Fong.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “The signing of this memorandum of understanding with Shandong Communication and Media College will mark the beginning of our new cooperation. We will join hands to promote progress and development in education, academia, and research. In the days to come, we will leverage our respective strengths, support each other, learn from one another, and explore new areas of collaboration together, contributing more to the friendship between our two countries.”

Ms Sun initiated her speech by first acquainting the audience with Shandong Communication and Media College. She then highlighted, “The collaboration between our two institutions holds vast potential in talent cultivation and educational research. With this MoU, we envision a robust framework for student exchanges to enrich the academic experiences of both our institutions. We really want this partnership to not just happen, but to work well and make a real difference."
