Ola Chat, a global internet technology company
specialising in mobile applications, collaborated with UTAR Office of
International Affairs (OIA) to organise a talk titled “Where Vision meets
Innovation – Crafting the Future of Mobile Application” on 18 April 2024 at
UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The talk, which drew the participation of 40
attendees both physically and online, aimed to explore the forefront of the
mobile application market and emerging trends in Malaysia.
OIA Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, in his
welcome speech, highlighted the university’s numerous collaborations with
local and international partners, emphasising the opportunities for students
to engage in various aspects such as training, research, and consultancy.
The talk featured speakers from Ola Chat, including
Ms Yu Yue from the HR department, who discussed the vast potential of the
mobile application industry, urging caution and self-awareness in career
choices. Ola Chat’s focus on revolutionising social interactions through
innovative features and its commitment to enhancing human connections were
also highlighted.
Ms Tiffany Dhara from the marketing team elaborated
on the company’s mission to connect people more efficiently through
technology, striving to become a leading real-time contextualised social
platform. She emphasised the importance of fostering diverse and meaningful
connections worldwide.
Mr Liam Li, responsible for app development,
showcased Ola Chat’s suite of apps, including Partying and others,
emphasising the importance of innovation and user-centric design, reflecting
the evolving landscape of mobile applications and the company’s dedication
to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
Moreover, the Q&A session provided students with an
opportunity to delve deeper into Ola Chat’s recruitment strategies and
expansion plans. Ola Chat expressed a keen interest in recruiting graduates
with skills in research and development, software engineering, and business
development, indicating their commitment to nurturing talent and driving
growth in the mobile application market.
