CMH Specialist Hospital visits UTAR Hospital
Representatives from CMH Specialist Hospital paid a visit to UTAR Hospital on 10 May 2024. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for future collaboration as well as discuss challenges faced by newly-established hospitals in Malaysia.
The visitors included Negri Sembilan Chinese Maternity Association (NSCMA) Executive Advisor Dato’ Hon Choon Kim, NSCMA Vice President Dato’ Ir Tan Suan Ching, NSCMA Secretary General Mr Desmond Chong Khong Hwa, NSCMA Committee Mr Lee Ah Cai, NSCMA Treasurer Mr Ivan Hon Woei Tatt, and CMH Specialist Hospital Chief Operating Officer Mr Cheah Ming Wei.
They were received by UTAR Council Member Mr Hew Fen Yee, UTAR Hospital CEO and Medical Director Prof Dr Lau Hui-Ping, Deputy CEOs Ms Maria Khong and Dr Ang Kong Hui; T&CM Centre Director Assoc Prof Dr Te Kian Keong, Nursing Director Ms Kum Yoke Ching, T&CM Centre Marketing Executive Mr Wong Yit Xiang, and UTAR Hospital staff.
During the discussion, Prof Lau and Dato’ Hon shared the development statuses of both hospitals. Dato’ Hon stated that they are planning to expand the CMH Specialist Hospital and set up a traditional Chinese medicine hospital to better serve the communities in Malaysia.
Both parties discussed the challenges faced by newly-established hospitals, and traditional and complementary medicine centres, which included the lack of talented medical personnel, pricing policy, and management styles.
