UTAR Vice President visits Chivast Education International in Beijing, China

A delegation from UTAR, led by Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development, Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, paid a courtesy visit to Chivast Education International (嘉华世达) in Beijing, China, on 22 October 2024.

The UTAR delegation included Centre for Extension Education Director and Division of Programme Promotion Acting Director Assoc Prof Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Director Mr Lee Choy Fong, UTAR Study Abroad Service Centre for China Director Ms Chen Wenbin and UTAR Education Collaboration Project Management Centre for China Director Ms Meng Ying.

The delegation was warmly received by Mr Liu Xuguang, Director of the Department of Programme Development at Chivast, accompanied by Department Managers Mr Hou Qiang and Mr Jiao Rong. Chivast, a subsidiary of the Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (中留服), supports Chinese students pursuing international education through consultation, visa assistance, IELTS testing, and programme development.

During the meeting, Prof Goi shared insights into UTAR’s history, commitment to academic excellence, internationalisation efforts and future development. Mr Liu, on the other hand, highlighted Chivast’s role in facilitating study-abroad opportunities, visa support, IELTS testing, and international programme development to assist Chinese students in studying overseas.

The visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding between Chivast and UTAR, establishing a foundation for future cooperation with Chivast’s partner institutions to offer joint study programmes across various provinces in China.
