UTAR exchange MoU with Taizhou University

UTAR and Taizhou University (TU) formalised their partnership by exchanging a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 25 October 2024. 

The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and TU President Prof Dr Le Chuanyong. However, TU Vice President Prof Li Junmin represented Prof Le during the MoU exchange.

Prof Dato’ Ewe welcomed the guests and introduced UTAR, saying, “I am confident that our collaboration will allow both institutions to effectively align and cooperate, share resources, and explore further potential opportunities for collaboration. While the specifics of the partnership can be discussed in more detail at a later stage, I personally look forward to the successful cooperation between our two institutions.”

Prof Li also provided an overview of TU’s history, its various faculties, and its international exchange programmes, while extending a warm welcome to the delegation from UTAR. She emphasised the importance of fostering international collaborations and expressed her optimism for the potential partnership between the two universities. In her remarks, Prof Li highlighted TU’s commitment to global academic exchanges, noting that such partnerships not only enhance the quality of education but also enrich the cultural understanding between institutions. She eagerly looks forward to the fruitful cooperation with UTAR, confident that this collaboration will bring mutual benefits.

The UTAR-TU collaboration aimed to exchange academic materials, publications, and information, jointly develop cooperative academic courses and conduct joint teaching activities. It also aimed to organise collaborative research activities and develop joint undergraduate programmes. Furthermore, the collaboration aimed to promote student and faculty exchanges to enhance learning experiences and teaching capabilities. Additionally, both institutions aimed to work together in developing courses of mutual interest.

Present at the event were TU Medical School Dean Prof Dr Cao Xuan, School of Life Science Dean Prof Dr Zhao Kai, Editorial Board of Journal of Taizhou University Editor in Chief Prof Dr Shao Kaiyun, School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Dr Yu Binbin and International Exchange and Cooperation Department Centre for Cooperation and Exchanges Head Ms Liu Mingmin.

UTAR representatives were UTAR Institute of Postgraduate Studies & Research (IPSR) Director Prof Ts Dr Lim Yang Mooi, Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Director Mr Lee Choy Fong, Centre for Research on Non-Communicable Diseases Chairperson Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Siew Keah and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Manager Ms Liu Dan.
