Zantat Sdn Bhd, Shen Jai High School, and UTAR have taken a meaningful step towards broadening academic opportunities for Malaysian students with the signing of an education sponsorship collaboration agreement on 29 October 2024 at UTAR Kampar Campus.
The signatories included UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Zantat Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Mr Ivan Chan Bin Iuan, and Shen Jai High School Principal Major (R) Chia Hock Chye. It was witnessed by UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong and Zantat Sdn Bhd Chief Operating Officer Mr Chan Jee Chet.
With the signing of this memorandum of agreement (MoA), Prof Dato’ Ewe expressed his delight towards the initiative, which provides more opportunities among Shen Jai High School students to pursue higher education. He said, “This collaboration reflects our collective dedication to nurturing the next generation of engineers, technologists, and scientists through education, industry engagement, and community development. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in building a brighter future. UTAR is proud to partner with Zantat and Shen Jai High School, and we look forward to seeing the lasting impact that this collaboration will have on our students and the broader community.”
Echoing the sentiment, Mr Ivan Chan said, “Zantat Sdn Bhd proudly joins hands with Shen Jai High School and UTAR to advance our shared commitment to education, opportunity and growth. Zantat Sdn Bhd has always believed that, through investing in people and supporting talented students, we can open doors, bridge gaps, and inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers in our communities. Our partnership represents not only financial support, but also a dedicated pathway for students to gain critical skills, hands-on experience, and mentorship through education. This sponsorship programme is a step towards building a skilled workforce and understanding the challenges and opportunities of the future.”
Expressing his gratitude for relieving students’ financial burden, Major (R) Chia said, “I believe this is the right time for our young generation to learn about modern technologies. In recent years, Shen Jai High School has worked together with international institutions such as the National University of Singapore (NUS), Xidian University, and the University of Macau, in which they provide our students with scholarships to pursue higher education. I’m happy to witness the commitment of Malaysian universities and industry players in nurturing our next generation.”
Under this agreement, Shen Jai High School students will be provided sponsorships to pursue higher education at UTAR, up to four years for engineering students and three years for non-engineering students. Moreover, the participating students will be given the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience and skills through an internship programme at Zantat Sdn Bhd.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Zaneco Sdn Bhd Research and Development Manager Dr Tai Nyok Ling, UTAR Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Dean Ir Prof Dr Ng Choon Aun, FEGT Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Leong Kah Hon, Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Ts Dr Khor Kheng Kia, Centre for Foundation Studies (Kampar Campus) Deputy Director for Academic Ms Phang Ying Ning, Division of Programme Promotion (DPP) Deputy Director Mr Tan Choon Wah, and delegates from Zantat Sdn Bhd, Shen Jai High School, and UTAR.
