Visit by PKU School of Materials Science and Engineering

A delegation from the Peking University (PKU) School of Materials Science and Engineering visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 22 October 2024.

The delegation, led by School of Materials Science and Engineering Dean Prof Dr Zou Ruqiang, included School of Advanced Materials Deputy Dean Prof Dr Xiao Yingguo, School of Advanced Materials Office of International Cooperation Director Prof Dr Zhao Xiaoxu, and School of Advanced Materials Shenzhen Graduate School staff Dr Ding Yuanyuan.

They were welcomed by Office of International Affairs Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research (Sungai Long Campus) Deputy Director Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Bernard Saw Lip Huat, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, LKC FES Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee, Head of Programme (MEng (Mechanical)) Ts Dr Lee Hwang Sheng, LKC FES Centre for Sustainable Mobility Technologies Chairperson Assoc Prof Ts Dr Jun Hieng Kiat, LKC FES academics Dr Ng Chai Yan, Ir Dr Ting Chen Hunt, Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid Ms Chai Jee Woon and OIA Assistant Manager Ms Goo Yi Qun.

The meeting commenced with the introduction of both universities and their respective faculty members. Discussions primarily focused on academic collaboration, student exchange programmes, future research partnerships, and the summer lab initiative. Both parties expressed a strong interest in the field of materials engineering and conveyed their desire for more collaboration in this area.

The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photography session.
