The delegation, led by FCI Department of Early Childhood Studies Head Dr Annie Wong Kai Sze together with academic Ms Yip Chan Ling, received a warm welcome upon their arrival on 25 October 2024.

The highlight of the visit was the “Heart-to-Heart Connection Programme– Seminar on Exchange and Mutual Learning in Basic Education” that took place on 26 October 2024. The seminar provided a dynamic platform for educators, students, and academic leaders from both institutions to discuss pressing issues and future trends in education. Participants also had the opportunity to view an exhibition showcasing the universities’ achievements in teaching and learning. The display highlighted successful educational projects and effective teaching practices, serving as inspiration and offering practical insights into ways to improve student learning outcomes.

The seminar focused on roundtable discussions, allowing faculty from both universities to dive deeper into topics such as the role of digital intelligence in education and the value of holistic educational approaches. The first forum, Digital Intelligence Education Leads the Future, focused on integrating AI and digital tools to enhance educational experiences. Meanwhile, the second forum, Giving Equal Emphasis on All Five Aspects of Education Promotes All-Around Development, explored balanced approaches that support intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and moral growth in students.

Dr Annie Wong expressed her excitement about future collaborative possibilities, including potential student and faculty exchange programmes. “These collaborations are invaluable for exposing our students to diverse educational practices and enriching their cultural perspectives,” she remarked, emphasising the importance of such partnerships for a globalised educational experience. Discussions also explored cooperation in areas like digital learning, early childhood education, and special education.

Both UTAR and Kunming University recognise that collaboration can empower students to tackle global challenges with knowledge and competence.

On 27 October 2024, the UTAR delegation departed from Kunming University with optimism for a bright future of collaboration. Both universities anticipate that this relationship will significantly contribute to their academic growth and international understanding, establishing a foundation for a meaningful and lasting alliance.
