The esteemed delegates and UTAR representatives touring the campus
The visit transformed into an opportune platform for UTAR representatives and delegates from Higashi-Hiroshima City Council & Hiroshima University Smart-City Co-creation Consortium to learn about respective institutions, when they visited UTAR Kampar Campus on 20 November 2024.
The delegates from Higashi-Hiroshima City Council were Councillors Mr Katayama Takashi, Mr Suzuki Eiji, and Mr Oshita Hirotaka. The representatives from Hiroshima University Smart-City Co-creation Consortium were Mr Yuji Ota, Mr Sakamoto Shohei, Prof Goh Ah Cheng, Mr Yusuke Nambu, Mr Satoshi Matsui, and Assoc Prof Dr Lee Chui Ying. The Japanese delegates were welcomed by Faculty of Science Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng and Office of International Affairs Deputy Director Dr Chen I-Chi.
The agenda for the day kick-started with Dr Chen delivering an overview of UTAR and its international perspective. The presentation provided delegates a glimpse into UTAR’s history and milestones achieved throughout the years. Dr Chen also elaborated on the university’s internationalisation efforts, emphasising the strong partnerships formed with international industry and academic institutions. These efforts underscore UTAR’s commitment to fostering collaborations that enhance educational and research excellence.
Next, Dr Lim enlightened the delegates with an insightful presentation on the history of Kampar and the economic impact of educational institutions on the town. He also briefly shared about UTAR Hospital, highlighting its services and its mission to serve the community.
Later, Mr Yusuke Nambu delivered a presentation titled Town & Gown Initiatives and Hiroshima University Smart-City Co-creation Consortium. He explained the urbanisation efforts involved in developing the town and the prospects of the initiatives.
