UTAR hosts delegates from India for academic and research initiatives

UTAR welcomed delegates from UnTechEd, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Chennai), SRM University Andhra Pradesh, DBS Global University, Aurora University, and Noida International University, to its Sungai Long Campus on 1 October 2024.

The delegation included UnTechEd Pvt Ltd CEO and Founder Ms Sultana Khan, SRM Institute of Science and Technology International Relations Assistant Director Dr Anupama C. G, SRM University International Relations Assistant Director Dr Sudeshna Saha, Partnerships & Mobility Programmes Deputy Manager Mr Sandeep Samala, DBS Global University President Mr Mohit Aggarwal, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, Noida International University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Uma Bhardwaj and International Relations Director Mr Sudhir Kumar Pandey.

Welcoming them were Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Dean Dr Pok Wei Fong, LKC FES Deputy Dean (Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes) Assoc Prof Ir Dr Gobi Vetharatnam and Office of International Affairs (OIA) staff Ms Wang Yiling.

The Kampar Campus team, who joined the meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams, included OIA Deputy Director Assoc Prof Dr Chen I-Chi, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Deputy Dean (R&D and Postgraduate Programmes) Dr Lo Po Kim, FEGT Head of Programme (PhD (Eng) and MEngSc programmes) Dr Gobi Kanadasan and Faculty of Business and Finance Deputy Dean (Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes) Dr Peter Tan Sin Howe.

Following the welcome speech by Prof Faidz and the presentation of UTAR’s corporate video, Ms Sultana’s speech laid the groundwork for discussions on enhancing international collaboration. Key topics centred on academic and research partnerships between India and UTAR, with an emphasis on joint projects and knowledge exchange. Both parties expressed interest in faculty and student exchange programmes, semester-abroad opportunities, and credit transfer arrangements. Additionally, they explored professional development initiatives for faculty members and plans for hosting joint international conferences to foster scholarly exchange.

The visit concluded with a souvenir exchange, group photo taking and campus tour.
