UTAR hosts Student Awards and Representatives Appreciation Ceremony 2024

On 19 September 2024, UTAR Department of Student Affairs organised the Student Awards and UTAR Representatives Appreciation Ceremony, celebrating the remarkable achievements of students across various disciplines. Held at the Multipurpose Hall, the event honoured students for their excellence in academics, leadership, sports, and innovation.

Performances by students

The programme commenced with a vibrant performance by UTAR students, featuring the 24 Festive Drums and the Music Club, setting an energetic tone for the day’s events. The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including UTAR President, Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, who officiated the ceremony, Dean of M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof Dr Thong Meow Keong; Deputy Dean (Student Development and Industrial Training) of Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee; Deputy Dean (Student Development and Industrial Training) of Faculty of Creative Industries Ts Dr Ang Kok Yew; Head of Department of Soft Skills Competency (Sungai Long Campus) Ms Fook Oi Yee; Prof Dr Jenny Parameshvara Deva @ nee Ng Gek Pheng; Head of Department of Student Affairs (Kampar Campus) Mr Chiang Jeng Fong; UTAR staff, award recipients, and student-athletes.

During his keynote address, Prof Dato’ Ewe congratulated the award recipients and said, “Your achievements reflect the hard work, perseverance, and commitment you have demonstrated. You have set a remarkable example for your peers, and today we are proud to recognise and celebrate your success.”

He also expressed his admiration for the athletes who represented UTAR in competitions such as Masiswa Zon Selangor, SUKIPT 2024, and sports exchanges in China and Sarawak, saying, “Through these competitions, you have showcased not only your physical ability but also your determination, teamwork, and resilience. You have brought pride to UTAR, and today we express our deepest appreciation for your efforts.”

Following the speech, a video presentation highlighted the recipients’ remarkable efforts and the competitions they had participated in throughout the year. The presentation reflected the impact of their contributions to university life, enhancing the prestige of UTAR’s vibrant student community.
