MoU with Institutions in Indonesia to strengthen academic collaboration

To enhance academic cooperation, UTAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with each of the following institutions, namely Universitas Persada Indonesia Y.A.I, Universitas Megarezky, Universitas Respati Yogyakarta, Universitas Sahid Jakarta, Akademi Bakti Kemanusiaan Palang Merah Indonesia, Institut Agama Kristen Negeri Manado, and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Y.A.I. The exchange ceremony took place on 15 October 2024 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus.

UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, extended a warm welcome to the Indonesian delegation. In his speech, he highlighted the mutual benefits and academic growth potential that such collaborations promise.

Universitas Persada Indonesia Y.A.I Rector, Prof Sri Astuti Indriyati, delivered a speech emphasising the importance of cross-border academic cooperation in enhancing the quality of education and fostering global perspectives among students and faculty members.

Under the MoU, all parties will work together to promote academic research, student and faculty exchanges, and joint educational initiatives. The MoU signifies an exciting chapter in UTAR’s efforts to strengthen its global network, providing a platform for enriched academic exchanges and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Representing the universities and institutions from Indonesia were Universitas Megarezky Vice Rector Dr Hj Arfenti Amir, Universitas Respati Yogyakarta Domestic Cooperation Services Head Dr Masruroh, Universitas Sahid Jakarta Research and Community Service Head Prof Nafiah Ariyani, Akademi Bakti Kemanusiaan Palang Merah Indonesia Director Ms Tetra Anestasia Putri, Institut Agama Kristen Negeri Dr Deflita, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Chairman Dr Reschiwati and other distinguished guests.

Also present at the ceremony were UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Dr Peter Tan Sin Howe, FBF Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Prof Dr Abdelhak Senadjki, FBF Department of Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management Head Dr Ng Yin Kuan, FBF Department of Marketing Head Dr Choy Johnn Yee, FBF Department of Finance Head Dr Wei Chooi Yi, FBF Department of Business and Public Administration Head Dr Siti Fazilah binti Abdul Shukor, Faculty of Creative Industries academic Dr T.
