MoU with Universitas Jambi, Indonesia

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony between UTAR and Universitas Jambi, Indonesia, was held at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 28 October 2024. The MoU aimed to foster closer academic ties, promote student and staff exchanges, and enhance research and development initiatives between the two esteemed institutions. Through this partnership, UTAR and Universitas Jambi will work together to broaden opportunities for knowledge-sharing, intercultural exchange, and mutual advancement in education and research.

Welcoming the delegates were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Faculty of Business and Finance Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Dr Peter Tan Sin Howe, Centre for Curriculum Development and Innovation (Kampar Campus) Deputy Head Dr Zam Zuriyati binti Mohamad, Department of Commerce and Accountancy Head Ms J. Sonia and Office of International Affairs Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn.

Representing Universitas Jambi were its Faculty of Economics and Business Dean Prof Dr Shofia Amin, Academic Cooperation and Information System Vice Dean Dr Ilham Wahyudi, Assoc Prof Dr Enggar Diah Puspa Arum, Assoc Prof Dr Wiralestari, Dr Rico Wijaya and Ms Aulia Beatrice Brilliant. 

The MoU was pre-signed before the ceremony by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Universitas Jambi Rector Prof Dr Helmi and witnessed by Prof Goi and Universitas Jambi Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information System Prof Dr Revis Asra.

At the MoU exchange ceremony, Prof Goi said, “This MoU marks a pivotal moment for both our institutions as we move forward with shared aspirations to enhance academic excellence and create opportunities for impactful international collaboration. Together, we are laying a foundation that not only benefits our institutions but also contributes positively to the broader academic and global community.”

Prof Shofia said, “We hope today’s MoU will mark the beginning of a strong collaboration between our institutions. We believe such initiative will bring substantial benefit to our institution and the communities of both nations.”

The academics engaged in a discussion about joint research collaboration and student mobility programmes following the ceremony.
