On 26 August 2024, a delegation from UTAR visited OSK Property Holdings Berhad at Plaza OSK in Kuala Lumpur to discuss potential areas for collaboration. The meeting aimed to explore initiatives focused on enhancing student development and strengthening industry engagement, with key representatives from both organisations present.

The meeting was attended by OSK’s Executive Director Puan Sri Khor Chai Moi, Group Managing Director Mr Ong Ju Yan, Deputy Group Managing Director Mr Ong Ju Xing, Chief Human Resources Officer Ms Sit Mee Leng, and Senior Manager II for Group Talent Acquisition Ms Shirley Wong Wai Ling.

UTAR’s delegation, led by its President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, included Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy and Management Dr Pok Wei Fong, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee, Head of the Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid Ms Tan Wear Sim, and Senior Assistant Manager for the Office of International Affairs (OIA) Ms Liu Dan. During the session, both OSK and UTAR representatives delivered presentations that set the tone for in-depth discussions on several topics. The primary areas of focus included internship programmes, industrial training placements, talent recruitment, and participation in career fairs. These discussions aimed to identify opportunities that would allow UTAR students to gain practical experience and exposure to the industry. Other topics of interest included potential collaborations in the form of guest talks, sponsorships, and further academic support, which could enhance students’ academic experiences and career prospects.

The discussion held at OSK

This meeting followed the previous interactions between OSK and UTAR. In July 2024, OSK Ventures International Berhad hosted a career talk at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, attended by around 110 students. The event provided valuable career guidance and insights. Earlier, OSK had also supported the establishment of a computer lab at UTAR Setapak Campus, assisting with renovations and equipment upgrades. Though this project was paused following the merger of OSK Investment Bank with RHB in 2013, the recent meeting signals a renewed interest in deepening the collaboration between the two organisations.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, symbolising the positive outcome of the discussions and the potential for a long-term partnership. As UTAR and OSK continue to explore future collaborations, both parties are optimistic that these initiatives will lead to formal agreements that benefit students, the industry, and the wider community.
