Tech-Store Malaysia Sdn Bhd took a significant step
in advancing local railway technology today by hosting a Mock Cheque
Handover Ceremony at Tech Store Headquarters, Puchong. The event held on 30
August 2024 marked Tech-Store’s sponsorship of RM15,000 for the upcoming 4th
Symposium of Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (SRIE 2024). SRIE 2024,
organised by the UTAR Centre for Railway Infrastructure and Engineering
(CRIE), is scheduled to take place on 28 November 2024.
The ceremony was attended by Technology Depository
Agency (TDA) CEO Dr Sharoul Jambari, TDA Head of Strategic Planning Mr Irlan
Norris Ishak, Tech-Store Malaysia CEO Mr Eugene Tan Hock Lim, CRIE
Chairperson Assoc Prof Ir Dr Chua Kein Huat, and Lee Kong Chian Faculty of
Engineering and Science academic Dr Ong Chuan Fang.
SRIE 2024 Advisor Dr Sharoul emphasised the role of
TDA in promoting localisation and fostering collaboration between industry
and academia. He also highlighted the importance of the Industrial
Collaboration Programme (ICP). He then highlighted TDA’s commitment to
facilitating partnerships that drive innovation and economic growth in the
railway sector.
In his remarks, Mr Eugene Tan explained the
importance of establishing a robust framework for the localisation of
railway technology. He outlined the various stages critical to this process,
including tender administration, the selection of competent suppliers,
procurement, user specifications, design, and the process of maintenance,
repair, and operation (MRO). Mr Eugene Tan also stressed the importance of
managing all acquired knowledge within a comprehensive database to ensure
the information is accessible and useful for future projects.
