CFS organises school engagement projects at SMJK Pei Yuan
UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus recently conducted two enriching and informative workshops and talks for the students and teachers at SMJK Pei Yuan, providing valuable insights while also strengthening the bond between the university and the community.
CFS Kampar Campus academic Ms Chia Phee Phee engaged over 100 Form 5 students at SMJK Pei Yuan on 3 July 2024, with her enlightening talk titled “Career Prospects for Arts and Sciences”.
Aimed at introducing secondary school students to the vast array of career opportunities available in the arts and science areas, Ms Chia provided an overview of the degree programmes offered in both fields. She then explored the diverse career pathways within these disciplines, emphasising the in-demand skills that enhance employability in today’s competitive job market.
On 31 July 2024, Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Kinta Selatan invited CFS Kampar Campus academic Mr Chong Chin Yen to conduct a workshop titled “Using ClassPoint for Teaching Secondary Mathematics” for the mathematics teachers at SMJK Pei Yuan.
Mr Chong introduced ClassPoint, an innovative tool designed to make classroom teaching more interactive and engaging. He demonstrated how this software can be seamlessly integrated into PowerPoint presentations, allowing teachers to create annotations and quizzes. The teachers were fascinated as Mr Chong walked them through practical examples, showcasing how ClassPoint could be used to transform a typical mathematics lesson into an interactive learning experience.
Mr Chong Keat Meng, a mathematics teacher, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I found the workshop very beneficial and useful for the teachers. We seldom have this kind of exposure. This gives us an opportunity to implement new methods in our teaching and learning sessions, both online and offline.”
