Pioneering the future of technology through Huawei Day 2024
UTAR Kampar Campus hosted the much-anticipated “Huawei Day 2024 - Intelligent World 2030” on 26 August 2024. The event, which brought together industry experts, academics, and students, showcased Huawei’s vision for a future shaped by cutting-edge technology and innovation.
Organised by the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), Huawei Day 2024 was attended by more than 200 students. The event also saw the presence of FICT Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Dr Choo Peng Yin, FICT Head of Master in Data Management and Analytics and Postgraduate Diploma in Data Management and Analytics Programme Dr Aun Yichiet, FICT academics and staff.
The event was particularly significant as it highlighted the ongoing collaboration between UTAR and Huawei, especially through the Huawei ICT Academy, which continues to be a beacon for nurturing the next generation of ICT professionals.
The event commenced with a comprehensive overview of Huawei’s global strategy and technological advancements, presented by Ms Delea Tan, Talent Ecosystem Manager at Huawei. She provided insightful perspectives on how Huawei is leading the charge towards an intelligent world by 2030. Ms Tan also emphasised the role of the Huawei ICT Academy in equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the evolving digital landscape.
Following the overview, attendees enjoyed a series of in-depth technology talks by industry leaders. Mr Lim Seow Boon, Regional Service Manager for Cloud at Huawei, delivered a compelling presentation on the future of cloud services. His talk delved into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the realm of cloud computing, highlighting Huawei’s innovative solutions to address these.
Adding to the discourse on sustainability, Mr John Leing, Product Manager for Digital Power at Huawei, shared insights on the critical role of digital power in building a sustainable future. His presentation underscored the importance of integrating digital power solutions to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprints in various sectors.
The event also featured an APHR (Asia Pacific Human Resources) Talk by Mr Danny Yap, Director of Huawei Asia Pacific Business and Network Consulting. Mr Yap’s talk explored the emerging trends in human resources across the Asia-Pacific region, with a particular focus on the impact of technological advancements on workforce dynamics.
Huawei Day 2024 at UTAR Kampar Campus was more than just a showcase of technological prowess; it was a platform for knowledge exchange and inspiration. The event highlighted the critical role that education and industry collaboration play in driving innovation and preparing the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Through the Huawei ICT Academy and ongoing partnerships with institutions like UTAR, Huawei continues to invest in the development of future talent, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to an intelligent and sustainable world.
