The Faculty of Business & Finance (FBF), in collaboration with the Perlis State Office of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), organised a community outreach event titled “Harmony Volunteers: Promoting Awareness for Health, Fitness, Wellbeing, and a Clean Environment” on 24 August 2024 at Muzium Kota Kayang, Al-Marhum, Kuala Perlis.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about physical health, mental wellbeing, and environmental sustainability, while fostering community involvement and collaboration. The project was led by Puan Che Siti Lazrina Md Lazim, supported by FBF academic staff including Cik Ku Nur Ilyani binti Ku Abd Aziz, Puan Nur Diyana binti Ismail, Cik Nabihah binti Aminaddin, Puan Noor Azizah binti Shaari, Puan Siti Nur Amira binti Othman, Ms Thanaletchumi R. Letchumanan, Cik Zainon binti Md Yunus, Encik Muhammad Ashraf bin Anuar, and Puan Tengku Rahimah binti Tengku Arifin.

MOTAC Perlis Director Tuan Azizul bin Ismail and MOTAC representative Puan Cham Pa Song were also in attendance. The programme involved approximately 70 students from Kelab Program Perlancongan Pelajar (K3P), comprising Form 4 and Form 5 students from 14 secondary schools, accompanied by their teachers. This club was established on 24 February 2001, by the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Tourism Malaysia, alongside the Minister of Education Malaysia.

The community outreach programme aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being by incorporating activities such as an aerobic session, treasure hunt, and motivational talk. These activities promote physical and mental health, strengthen social connections, foster environmental sustainability, and contribute to economic development. Additionally, the programme supported SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by integrating beautification efforts through the planting of flowers and trees. This initiative promotes inclusive, participatory, and sustainable development, leveraging the collective strength of communities to address environmental, social, and economic challenges, thus enhancing resilience and improving the quality of life for all residents.
