Quizzing to celebrate Malaysia Day 2024
The passion for Malaysia’s rich culture, history and diversity continued to scintillate among the students at UTAR Kampar Campus during the month of September 2024, a month woven with threads of historical significance.
The Malaysia Day Quiz Competition 2024, held on 4 September 2024, gathered more than 50 UTAR students at UTAR Heritage Hall Building, Kampar Campus for a friendly game of knowledge, with topics centred around Malaysia’s culture, history, geography and contemporary affairs.
The participating students were engaged in a quick-paced Quizizz session, involving a total of 30 questions prepared by the organiser, Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus. The quiz competition aimed to provide an opportunity for the students to showcase their general knowledge about Malaysia and boost their spirit of patriotism in anticipation of Malaysia Day 2024.

A group of UTAR students also took the stage to deliver a song performance, signifying their enthusiasm for the upcoming Malaysia Day. Their rendition of “Saya Anak Malaysia” filled the room with rhythmic choruses, inspiring an excited crowd to join in the gaiety. A variety of guffaws and cheers erupted as voices harmonised, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity that celebrated people’s love for the nation.
CFS (Kampar Campus) Deputy Director for Academic Ms Phang Ying Ning said, “The Malaysia Day Quiz Competition 2024 is more than just a test of knowledge, it is a platform for growth. As the participants engage in the challenge, they will not only expand their understanding of Malaysia but also acquire valuable skills like critical thinking and problem-solving. These are the qualities that make our students stand out on the global stage, in which our diversity and adaptability are recognised and valued.”
With the quiz competition coming to its fourth year of iteration, the Chairperson of Malaysia Day Quiz Competition 2024 Ms Yuvashini Salvamani extended her gratitude to the members of the organising committee and the participants.
She also enthused, “Today, we gather here to celebrate not just the spirit of competition but also the rich history, culture and unity that our nation represents. Malaysia Day is more than just a date on the calendar; it is a symbol of our shared history, our diverse cultures and our collective identity. As Malaysians, we come from different backgrounds, speak different languages and practice different religions. Yet, it is this very diversity that enriches our nation and makes Malaysia unique. We are a tapestry of cultures; each thread adds colours and depth to the fabric of our society.”
