The Faculty of Science (FSc) at UTAR took part in the fundraising event held on 7 September 2024 during The Salvation Army Ipoh Open Day, which aimed to support the welfare of children at the Salvation Army Children’s Home. The event was held at Jalan Kampar, Ipoh.
A total of 24 volunteers from UTAR contributed to this initiative, including 15 academics and administrative staff from FSc, one from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, and eight student helpers. The volunteers assisted in various capacities to ensure the success of the fundraising activities.
The UTAR team set up two stalls during the event. The first stall offered a range of donated items for sale, including Ayam Dindings Tempura Chicken Nuggets from Malayan Flour Mill Bhd, vegetables from United SFL Plantation Sdn Bhd, herbal pillows from Sai Kim Sdn Bhd, salted eggs from Yanlon Layers Farm Sdn Bhd and Southern Zone Farming Sdn Bhd, food containers from Nature’s Best Sdn Bhd, ramen from Tehki Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, and frozen mantou from Team Some Sdn Bhd.
The second stall featured a game station where attendees enjoyed participating in the Ponginator game. Product sales and the game station created a lively atmosphere for visitors.
The event raised RM8,085 through the sales of coupons, donations, and items sold during the Open Day. UTAR is grateful for the support of all contributors and looks forward to continuing its involvement in community outreach initiatives.
