The Department of International Student Services, Sungai Long (DISS-SL) successfully hosted the Global Iftar Gathering for international students on 21 March 2025, bringing together Muslim international students from diverse cultural backgrounds to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan.
The event saw the participation of students from various economies, including China, Sudan, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iran, Kenya, Tanzania and Bangladesh. It provided a unique platform for students to share their cultural traditions while fostering unity and understanding among peers.
The evening commenced with a group photo session, followed by the iftar (breaking of fast) and Maghrib prayer. Afterwards, attendees enjoyed a communal dinner, during which student representatives from each country took turns sharing insights into the Ramadan customs and traditions observed in their respective homelands. Their heartfelt stories and experiences offered a deeper appreciation of the cultural richness and spiritual significance of the holy month.
Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to come together in a warm and inclusive environment, strengthening bonds of friendship and cultural exchange.
