The Institute of Management and Leadership Development (IMLD) at UTAR once again collaborated with the Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Tanzania, to conduct a training programme titled Mastering Budgetary Pressures: Strategies for Financial Resilience from 10 to 21 March 2025 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus.
Designed for Tanzanian government officials, the programme provided essential budgeting strategies for managing fiscal challenges effectively. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), and the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB).
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by IMLD Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu. Over the 10-day course, participants engaged in interactive sessions covering key financial topics, including taxation and revenue collection, budget formulation, budget performance monitoring and evaluation systems, public sector auditing, and accountability.
Engaging discussions
As part of the programme, delegates also visited the Embassy of Tanzania in Kuala Lumpur, where they participated in meaningful discussions on potential collaborations between Malaysia and Tanzania in higher education. They also visited the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, PwC Malaysia, and the Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery, gaining valuable insights into best practices in budget accountability and evaluation.
