UTAR fosters festive joy and community spirit at Kajang orphanage

In a heartfelt celebration of community and compassion, the UTAR Department of Student Affairs (DSA) hosted the “Ramadan Radiance 2025” outreach programme on 24 March 2025 at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Ummi dan Waled in Sungai Jerlok, Kajang. The initiative, co-organised by the UTAR Engineering Society and UTAR Staff Sports and Recreation Club (USSRC), brought together 23 participants, including the home’s founder and staff members, to share the spirit of togetherness and generosity during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event commenced with warm welcome speeches exchanged between representatives of UTAR and the charitable home, fostering a sense of mutual respect and appreciation. These introductions set the stage for a series of engaging and meaningful activities designed to spark joy among the children and deepen the bonds between participants. The ice-breaking mini-games saw enthusiastic participation, creating an atmosphere of laughter and camaraderie, while the handprint activity added a creative and memorable touch—each vibrant print symbolising unity and hope.

In line with the festive occasion, UTAR’s team presented contributions including Raya angpau, hampers, storage boxes, laundry detergent, and a variety of food and beverages, all thoughtfully prepared to support the home’s daily needs and enhance the iftar gathering experience. The gesture not only brightened the day for the children and staff but also demonstrated UTAR’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and inclusive community engagement.

The day’s programme concluded with the communal breaking of fast, during which participants shared a warm meal and heartfelt conversations, reinforcing the values of empathy, service, and human connection.
