UTAR advances real estate education through professional dialogue

On 9 April 2025, UTAR Sungai Long Campus hosted an insightful event titled Registration and Professionalism of Real Estate Consultants, aimed at broadening students’ understanding of the real estate industry and its professional standards. Organised by the Department of Building and Property Management under the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM), the session featured two respected industry experts who offered valuable perspectives on real estate practice in Malaysia.

The event commenced with a presentation by Prof Sr Dr Anuar bin Alias, a renowned academic from FAM in property development and valuation with decades of experience in both government and academia. Prof Anuar outlined the critical importance of professional registration, ethical conduct, and industry affiliation in shaping a responsible and credible real estate sector. He shared a detailed overview of the standards and regulatory frameworks that guide valuers, property managers, and estate agents, emphasising their collective role in maintaining public confidence and sector integrity.

Following this, Ts Kamal bin Abd Ghafur Korusamy delivered a comprehensive talk on estate agency practice. As a prominent figure in Malaysia’s property landscape who holds leadership roles in multiple organisations, including the Institute of Malaysian Property Agents and Consultants (IMPAC) and FIABCI Malaysia, he provided students with an in-depth understanding of industry operations. His session covered practical aspects of real estate transactions, technological innovations such as blockchain in preventing fraud, and the evolving demands of the profession.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion, where students engaged the speakers on licensing processes, industry expectations, and career development strategies. A group photo session and presentation of tokens of appreciation followed, marking the successful close of the event.
