In a continued effort to ignite the passion for science and technology among secondary school students, UTAR successfully conducted a STEM Experiment Demonstration at SMJK Ayer Tawar, Perak, on 15 April 2025. Organised by UTAR STEAM Outreach, in collaboration with the Division of Programme Promotion (DPP) and the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT), the initiative welcomed 35 enthusiastic Form 4 science students for a morning filled with hands-on learning and innovation.
The event provided students with an exciting opportunity to explore real-world scientific principles through interactive workshops. Led by FEGT academics, the sessions aimed to nurture creativity, problem-solving skills, and a deeper appreciation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Among the engaging activities were the Tower Challenge, where students tested their engineering and teamwork skills to build stable structures; Having Fun with Arduino, a session that introduced basic electronics and programming in a fun and approachable way; and Green Coaster and Heat Stress Tracker, which highlighted concepts of energy efficiency and raised awareness about climate-related issues.

The success of the programme was marked by the enthusiastic participation of the students and the strong support from the school’s teachers and leadership. This STEM Experiment Demonstration is part of UTAR’s broader commitment to educational outreach, particularly in inspiring and equipping young minds with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.
