UTAR and Raffles University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic collaboration and explore strategic areas of cooperation in education, research, and talent development at Sungai Long Campus on 10 December 2025. Signing the MoU were Raffles University President Assoc Prof Greg Pritchard and UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, while witnessing the signing were Raffles University Vice President Assoc Prof Dr Tan Wee Chuen and UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min.
The MoU aims to establish a framework for both institutions to initiate joint collaborative research projects and joint talent training programmes, leveraging their respective strengths and expertise. It also aims to facilitate academic development exchanges, including mutual visits by faculty members to engage in research, teaching, and participation in seminars, conferences, and workshops.
The MoU also supports student mobility initiatives where feasible, enabling students to gain exposure to different academic environments and enrich their learning experiences. Internship opportunities for undergraduate students may also be facilitated to enhance practical skills and career readiness.
In terms of academic progression, the MoU provides pathways for student and faculty mobility between both institutions, including opportunities to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as potential joint supervision arrangements for master’s and doctoral programmes where applicable.
Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “This MoU represents an important step in strengthening partnerships that support impactful research, talent development, and meaningful academic exchanges. We look forward to working closely with Raffles University to create mutually beneficial outcomes for our students and faculty members,” he said.
Assoc Prof Greg Pritchard welcomed the partnership, noting its potential to broaden academic pathways. “Our collaboration with UTAR opens new opportunities for research collaboration, academic exchange, and student progression. By combining our strengths, we aim to enhance learning experiences and contribute to the development of future-ready graduates,” he said.
