Delegation from the National Academy of Governance visits UTAR

A delegation from the National Academy of Governance (中国国家行政学院), China, visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 17 December 2024.

The delegation, led by Vice President Prof Dr Li Wentang, included Graduate School Dean Prof Dr Shi Hexing, Global Governance and International Organisations Research Institute Director Prof Dr Chen Jianqi, Asia Research Institute member Prof Dr Deng Han, Secretariat Office Secretary Mr Wang Yang and International Cooperation Department Researcher Ms Li Chuanhua.

They were warmly welcomed by UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Institute of Management and Leadership Development Director and Belt and Road Strategic Research Centre Chairperson Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Social and Policy Studies Chairperson Assoc Prof Dr Chin Yee Mun, Faculty of Accountancy and Management academic Dr Fok Kuk Fai, Faculty of Creative Industries academic Dr Tan Wooi Yee and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Assistant Manager Ms Goo Yi Qun. Joining the meeting virtually were OIA Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and OIA Deputy Director Assoc Prof Dr Chen I-Chi.

The meeting commenced with the presentation of UTAR’s achievements and initiatives through a video, followed by a welcome speech delivered by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat via video recording. Prof Goi also delivered an opening address. Prof Li responded with an inspiring speech, highlighting the opportunities for collaboration.

The visit included an exchange of souvenirs, a group photography session, and insightful presentations on key topics. Presentations included Dancing in Conviviality: The Achievement of Lion Dance in Promoting National Unity and Identity among ASEAN Nations by Dr Chin, China-ASEAN Free Trade Area by Dr Fok, and Promoting Economic System Reforms for High-Quality Economic Growth by Prof Chen.

The event concluded with an engaging discussion session, fostering deeper understanding and laying the groundwork for potential collaborations in academic and research initiatives.
