UTAR and Beifang Automotive Education Group formalised their partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 6 January 2025 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus.
The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Beifang Automotive Education Group International Marketing Director Ms Lily Han.
Prof Dato’ Ewe first gave a warm welcome to the guests and expressed gratitude for the strong partnership, recounting significant milestones, including a meeting in Beijing in June 2024. He concluded by expressing optimism for a fruitful partnership.

Beifang Automotive Education Group Chairman Mr Cao Zhenfeng gave a speech via online, thanking everyone for their efforts in making this collaboration possible. He emphasised the partnership’s role in promoting Chinese automotive technology, including electricity, intelligence, and hydrogen vehicles in Malaysia. He said, “This collaboration marks the beginning of a strong partnership, combining strengths to achieve mutual benefits and serve as a model for Sino-Malaysian cooperation in education and technology.” Mr Cao expressed optimism about its potential global impact.

The collaboration between UTAR and Beifang Automotive Education Group includes organising international joint teaching programmes, creating opportunities for students to intern at enterprises under the Beifang Automotive Education Group, and jointly promoting programmes related to the automotive industry.
Present at the event were Beifang Automotive Education Group Deputy General Director Mr Jacky Qin, Advance Retro Solution Sdn Bhd Chief Sales Officer Mr David Leow, Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Dean Ir Prof Dr Ng Choon Aun, FEGT academic Dr Leong Sim Siong, Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Deputy Director Ms Irene Wong Hong Lei and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Assistant Manager Ms Wang Yiling. Joining the meeting virtually were OIA Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and OIA Deputy Director Assoc Prof Dr Chen I-Chi.
