UTAR alumni attended a regional gathering on 21 June 2025 at Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Johor Bahru. Organised by the Department of Alumni Relations and Placement, the gathering brought together 30 participants and aimed to foster stronger connections among alumni while encouraging ongoing engagement with the University.
The gathering featured remarks and experience sharing by UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, UAMM President Ms Aw Chan Yann, and Dreiheit Group of Companies Director Ms Gigi Ng. Each shared their perspectives on alumni engagement, community building and professional development. Also present at the gathering was Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance Dean, Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee.

Alumni from various fields exchanged insights about their career paths and discussed opportunities for future collaboration. They also had the chance to introduce their family members while enjoying a buffet lunch and reminiscing about their time at UTAR.

Prof Choong provided updates on UTAR’s recent achievements and initiatives, sparking lively discussions about expanding the University’s alumni presence, particularly in Johor and Singapore. Concluding his speech, he noted, “These events are more than just reunions—they are opportunities to reconnect, work together, and keep supporting each other as part of the UTAR family. We hope that gatherings like this will not only strengthen friendships but also spark new ideas, partnerships, and memories.”

The event concluded with a sharing session by Ms Ng Szu Youn, a 2006 graduate of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme. She is currently the Director of Dreiheit House International Pte Ltd and serves as the liaison for the UTAR Alumni Singapore Chapter.
She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni and help grow the UTAR alumni network, and also expressed her commitment to strengthening the connection between Singapore-based alumni and the University. She also shared her enthusiasm for organising more alumni gatherings and collaborative initiatives in the future to foster a vibrant and supportive alumni community and to fulfil the goals established earlier that day.
