UTAR Champions Active and Healthy Living through Campus Engagement

Promoting a healthy lifestyle on campus isn’t just about awareness campaigns or posters on the wall, it’s about real action, visible leadership, and community participation. That’s exactly what happened on 23 July 2025 at UTAR Kampar Campus.

UTAR President Ir. Professor Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat and Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, Professor Dr. Choong Chee Keong, made a meaningful appearance at the scenic area behind Block B, joining a small group of staff and students to highlight the importance of wellness, sustainability, and a balanced lifestyle in university life.

The presence of key academic figures – Associate Professor Dr. Abdelhak Senadjki (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Business and Finance), Dr. Teh Lai Kuan (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Science), and Dr. Toh Peh Yi (Chairperson of the UTAR Green Campus Committee, Kampar Campus) – further emphasised that wellness is a shared responsibility across all levels of the university.

Also supporting the effort were student volunteers Chooi Kai Xiang and Pang Yi Hao, who played their part in ensuring the smooth running of the engagement session.

The initiative echoes UTAR’s commitment to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting physical activity, mental wellness, and a healthy campus culture,

SDG 4: Quality Education, through experiential student involvement and campus-wide participation, and

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by encouraging inclusive and people-friendly university spaces.

Efforts like these may seem small, but they create a ripple effect — inspiring more students, staff, and leaders to take part in building a healthier, happier campus for all.
