UTAR and SMK Methodist ACS Kampar collaborate to transform school wall into vibrant mural

In a heartening display of creativity and collaboration, lecturers from UTAR Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS), Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) and Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) Kampar, together with teachers and students from SMK Methodist ACS Kampar, joined hands to transform a plain school wall into a vibrant mural. The mural represented the core values of energy, hope, discipline, andteamwork, principles that guide student development and holistic education.

The mural, themed around flora and fauna, featured a blooming sunflower and flying bees, symbolising the close relationship between nature and human life. The sunflower signified energy, hope, and cheerfulness, while the bees represented diligence, discipline, and teamwork. These elements reflected the positive values the school aims to instil in its students, in line with its motto, “Our utMost for the Highest.”

The use of bright colours and modern graffiti-style spray painting techniques reflected the dynamic and progressive spirit of the school community. The inclusion of the school emblem within the mural further enhanced the sense of pride and identity associated with the institution. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the mural conveyed a meaningful message about the significance of nature, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence in education.

Now gracing the school wall, the mural stands as a lasting testament to what can be achieved when educational institutions collaborate with heart and purpose. This initiative not only beautified the school environment but also strengthened the bond between UTAR and the local school community, demonstrating Kampar’s enduring spirit of unity and shared growth. This initiative turned a blank wall into a meaningful message, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, collaboration, and inspiration.

UTAR members involved in the mural painting project included Dr Muhammad Husaini bin Nadri from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology; Mr Gangadurai Ganesan from the Centre for Foundation Studies, Kampar (CFS-KPR); and Mr Abdullah Ehlid Al Walid bin Luli, Ms Norlis binti Ismail, Ms Hashima Mohaini binti Mohammad, and Ms Audrey Anak John, all from the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS).
