Industry insight sharing session with Business Media International General Manager

The Department of Public Relations from the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) successfully organised an Industry Insight Sharing Session on 16 July 2025 at UTAR Kampar Campus. The session featured Mr Tan Yong Keat, General Manager of Business Media International (BMI), and was attended by Integrated Marketing Communication students from the June 2025 trimester.

Titled Current Market Trends, the session provided students with a comprehensive overview of the evolving publishing and media industry. Drawing from his extensive background in marketing and operations, Mr Tan highlighted key trends shaping the current media landscape, including digital transformation, innovation, and the growing importance of cross-functional collaboration. He also emphasised the need for professionals to remain adaptable and forward-thinking in a dynamic market.

The session concluded with a lively 20-minute Q&A segment, during which students actively engaged with Mr Tan on industry-related topics such as content strategy, market demands, and career planning. The session offered valuable exposure to real-world perspectives, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations while inspiring students in their professional development.

FAS PR lecturer Ms Aruna Raj Devarajoo said, “Sessions like these are important in helping students see how classroom theories are applied in the real world.
