In a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange and traditional arts, the UTAR Kampar 24 Festive Drum Club embarked on an enriching eight-day, seven-night interaction trip to Taiwan from 14 to 21 June 2025.

Organised during the June 2025 trimester break, the trip aimed to foster cross-cultural learning and deepen drumming expertise through hands-on interactions with local drum troupes and cultural groups.

Club Chairperson Goh Xin Yu shared that the objectives of the trip were to exchange drumming knowledge and experiences with Taiwanese counterparts, sharpen performance skills, and further UTAR’s mission of promoting and preserving both local and Chinese cultural heritage.
A total of ten club members participated in the trip, including four from the organising committee. The club’s co-advisor, Mr Lim Chong Heng, also joined the group for this enriching journey.

Throughout the trip, the club engaged with over 80 individuals from six external groups, namely the Nippon Taiko Drum Club from Providence University, Drummover, the Drum Team of the Central Region Children’s Home, the National Taiwan Sport University Wushu and Dragon Dance Team, the Lei Sheng Art Group, and Goosbond Assembly.

The participants gained invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience through various exchange sessions, workshops, and performances. The trip not only enhanced the members’ drumming proficiency and cultural appreciation but also contributed to the international visibility of UTAR.
