FYP Conference May 2025 showcases student research excellence

The Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF), in collaboration with the Financial Economics Society, successfully organised the Final Year Project (FYP) Conference May 2025 on 9 May 2025 at UTAR Kampar Campus.

The conference featured 19 selected student groups from 11 undergraduate programmes under THP FBF, who presented their final-year projects through oral presentations and poster exhibitions. The event aimed to foster academic exchange while providing a platform for students to showcase their research, communication, and presentation skills.

A total of eight awards were presented under three categories, namely Best Projects, Best Oral Presentations, and Best Poster Designs. The gold-winning team from each category was sponsored to participate in the 13th International Conference on Business, Accounting, Finance, and Economics (BAFE) 2025, to be held in October.

The event began with an introduction to the conference, followed by concurrent sessions of oral and poster presentations evaluated by a panel of judges. Each participating group presented their research findings and defended their work during the judging process.

The closing and awards ceremony was graced by the Dean of THP FBF, Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, and several invited guests, including Dr Peter Tan Sin Howe, Prof Dr Abdelhak Senadjki, Dr Kuah Yoke Chin, and Dr Tan Luen Peng. Certificates of participation were presented to all teams, while the winning teams received trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding work. The winning posters were also exhibited for attendees to view.

Best Oral Presentation

• Gold: Bachelor of Economics (Honours) Financial Economics students – Justin Leong Weng Seng, Gan Yong Jin, Liew Sai Mun Simon
• Silver: Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Entrepreneurship students – Charissa Yeoh Tian Ern, Loh Ying Fei, Sim Ji Wei, Wong Yee Mun
• Bronze: Bachelor of Economics (Honours) Financial Economics students – Tam Ye Xuan, Pang En Qi

Best Poster Award

• Gold: Bachelor of Economics (Honours) Financial Economics students – Justin Leong Weng Seng, Gan Yong Jin, Liew Sai Mun Simon
• Silver: Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance students – Chua Sien Ruo, Law Cheng Xin, Tan Jing Ruo, Wong Chu Hui
• Bronze: Bachelor of Public Administration (Honours) students – Ho Ying Xuan, Suzanne Yap Shu Xuan, Yeo Wan Wei

The conference concluded with a group photo session. The organising committee expressed their appreciation for the support received from THP FBF staff and shared their enthusiasm for collaborating on more academic activities in the future. They also reflected on the valuable experience gained in organising a physical event, particularly in areas such as venue setup, emceeing, and teamwork.
