Getting wants and needs to the people across the world has long been a vital duty among logistic groups. Although the logistics industry is already highly advanced, vast areas of untapped potential remain uncharted, waiting to be explored through innovation by the talents of tomorrow.

Embracing a vision that goes beyond academia-industry collaboration to nurturing minds capable of redefining opportunities in the logistics sector, UTAR expanded its network of invaluable partners through the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on 16 May 2025 at Port Klang with local logistics organisations, namely Megalift Sdn Bhd and Multi-Trans Sdn Bhd.
The MoU between UTAR and Megalift Sdn Bhd was signed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Megalift Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Mr Adrian Tan, and witnessed by UTAR Faculty of Science (FSc) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng and Megalift Sdn Bhd Manager of Human Resources / Human Capital Ms Letchimy V. Balasubramaniam.
Meanwhile, the MoU between UTAR and Multi-Trans Sdn Bhd was signed by UTAR President Prof Dato’ Ewe and Multi-Trans Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Mr Edwin Tan Piaw Jie, witnessed by UTAR FSc Dean Dr Lim and Megalift Sdn Bhd Manager of Human Resources / Human Capital Ms Letchimy.
Discussion on potential collaboration in progress
Through the MoUs, the organisations will work together to foster academic initiatives, primarily aimed at promoting talent training, and resource and knowledge exchange. The potential initiatives include study visits by undergraduate and postgraduate students, industrial training, joint research, joint activities, and joint training programmes.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Megalift Sdn Bhd Director En Hasni bin Husain, UTAR FSc Head of Programme for BSc (Hons) Logistics and International Shipping Ts Dr Mohd Azam bin Din, FSc academic En Afwan Hakim bin Md Mahdzir, Office of International Affairs (OIA) Deputy Director Assoc Prof Dr Chen, I-Chi, and OIA Senior Assistant Manager Ms Chin Sau Lai.
The establishment of official partnerships with Megalift Sdn Bhd and Multi-Trans Sdn Bhd marked a meaningful step towards UTAR’s ongoing mission to bridge academia and industry. More than that, it facilitated a new set of collaborative initiatives, poised to equip students with relevant industry exposure, foster innovation, and strengthen Malaysia’s logistics capabilities for the future. With continued collaboration and shared commitment, the next generation of logistics professionals will be empowered with the essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and competitive global logistics landscape.
