From fast food to fast thinking: Marrybrown wraps up UTAR leadership course

UTAR Centre for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD) proudly hosted the Marrybrown Course Completion Ceremony on 30 May 2025 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The event marked the successful conclusion of the professional development course titled Effective Problem Solving Through Critical and Creative Thinking, which was specially curated for the leadership team of Marrybrown Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s homegrown fast-food pioneer.

The event buzzed with a sense of accomplishment and professional camaraderie as participants, trainers and invited guests gathered to celebrate the outcomes of the intensive programme designed to hone critical and creative thinking—skills essential for navigating the complexities of modern business challenges.

The day commenced with an inspiring welcome address by CCCD Director Ms Lim Guat Yen, who congratulated the 23 participants on completing the two-day training on effective problem-solving. She acknowledged Marrybrown’s leadership team and highlighted the strong partnership since the MoU signing in October 2024. Emphasising the training’s impact on professional growth and organisational capability, she also shared her excitement for upcoming collaborative programmes, reaffirming CCCD’s commitment to lifelong learning and tailored industry training.

Following her remarks, Mr Daniel Chan Lek Seong, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Marrybrown, delivered a keynote address, expressing his appreciation to UTAR for organising a course that closely aligns with Marrybrown’s vision of cultivating an innovative and adaptable workforce. He emphasised the workshop’s role in blending academic theory with practical experience to prepare leaders for the company’s expansion and noted that the event marked not an end but the beginning of their leadership journey.

One of the major highlights of the event was the group presentation session, where participants showcased real-life case studies and strategic solutions devised through the lens of critical and creative thinking. This session not only demonstrated the practical applications of the course content but also served as a platform for interdepartmental collaboration and leadership in action.

The momentum continued with the Certificate of Completion Award Ceremony, which recognised all participants for their commitment and growth, and celebrated the outstanding analytical insight and creativity demonstrated during the course.
