UTAR and Tidy Non-Woven Sdn Bhd forge partnership to advance hygiene innovation

It was a milestone in scientific and industry collaboration. On 25 June 2025, UTAR expanded its diverse network of industry partners through the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tidy Non-Woven Sdn Bhd at UTAR Kampar Campus, marking the beginning of an official partnership.

The MoU signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Tidy Non-Woven Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Bennto Lim Jia Hing. The documents were exchanged by the Faculty of Science (FSc) Dean, Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng, and Mr Bennto Lim.

The partnership not only solidifies the ongoing research projects between both organisations but also expands potential collaborations, such as academia-industry projects, student industrial training and visits, and knowledge sharing.

Present at the MoU exchange ceremony on behalf of Tidy Non-Woven Sdn Bhd were CEO Mr Bennto Lim, Executive CEO’s Office Mr Jack Lim Zun Jie, and Assistant Manager / R&D Advisor Ms Gwee Pei Shing.

Present on behalf of UTAR were FSc Dean Dr Lim, FSc Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Dr Sit Nam Weng, Centre for Biomedical and Nutrition Research Chairperson Dr Eddy Cheah Seong Guan, and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Senior Assistant Manager Ms Loi Sien Mun.

In the month leading up to the official partnership, UTAR FSc had already begun collaborating with Tidy Non-Woven Sdn Bhd on several research projects, particularly in the development of medical-grade wet wipes. These ongoing projects have shown steady progress.

Dr Lim said, “Through partnerships like this, our staff and students are able to gain insights into industry trends, technological advancements, and workplace practices. At the same time, industry partners like Tidy Non-Woven Sdn Bhd benefit from access to academic expertise, research capabilities, and fresh perspectives from our students and graduates.”

Mr Jack Lim remarked, “Today’s ceremony is not just about formalising an agreement; it is about affirming our shared commitment to knowledge exchange, innovation, and real-world impact. Through this partnership, we hope to continue bridging the gap between academic and industry insights, demonstrating that our products remain at the forefront of safety, effectiveness, and sustainability. We look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future.”
