The common goal of equipping students with necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in a dynamic global environment was achieved with the virtual memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony between UTAR and Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna (LPU-L), held on 3 March 2025, via Zoom.
Prof Dato’ Ewe highlighting the importance of international collaboration
UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat emphasised, “The partnership will provide students of both institutions with invaluable opportunities to gain international exposure, immerse themselves in various learning environments, and embrace the different cultures. I believe the student exchange agreement will broaden students’ academic and professional perspectives, enhance their cultural intelligence, and strengthen their global competencies.” He also expressed optimism for this collaboration to reinforce both institutions’ continuous commitment to providing quality education.
He continued by highlighting the importance of international collaboration, which enables educational institutions to enrich learning experiences, contribute to the advancement of knowledge across borders, and facilitate the transfer of skills and expertise for innovation and progress.

Voicing her agreement, Chancellor of LPU-L and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr Lerma Y. Calingasan commented that this partnership would provide an avenue for both institutions to learn from one another and enrich the learning experience. She expressed hope that it would be a sustainable partnership supporting efforts to bring about a positive impact on society.
Also present were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and LPU-L Assistant Vice President for Global Engagement and Business Development and Executive Director, Campus Development and Facilities Dr Abram Emmanuel R. Peralta, along with staff of both institutions. Additionally, this MoU will facilitate joint talent training programmes, academic exchanges, internships and postgraduate programmes.
