UTAR and Rehab Bee Physio signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 3 March 2025 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus to strengthen academia-industry collaboration in physiotherapy education and training. The MoU aimed to pave the way for UTAR Physiotherapy students to gain hands-on experience, internships and real-world patient care training.
Through this partnership, UTAR students will have the opportunity to undergo internship and study visits at Rehab Bee Physio, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. In addition, both parties will explore initiatives that promote capacity building for individuals and organisations in the field of physiotherapy.
Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Rehab Bee Physio Managing Partner Ms Chow Jer Mei while witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and Rehab Bee Physio Cheras Head Ms Vera Yu Qian Hui.
UTAR President Prof Dato’ Ewe emphasised the importance of academia-industry partnerships in preparing students for the workforce. “At UTAR, we strongly believe that industry exposure is essential in equipping students with the necessary skills and competencies to excel in their careers. This collaboration with Rehab Bee Physio will provide our Physiotherapy students with hands-on training and practical insights, ensuring they graduate with a strong foundation in clinical practice and patient care,” he said.
Rehab Bee Physio Founder Mr Low Yu Seng expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the shared vision of both institutions in advancing physiotherapy education. “As an organisation committed to professional excellence, Rehab Bee Physio is honoured to work with UTAR in nurturing the next generation of physiotherapists. We look forward to providing students with real-world exposure, clinical research opportunities, and mentorship from experienced practitioners,” he said.
