UTAR Department of International Student Services (DISS) transformed the Sungai Long Campus into a vibrant hub of festivity by welcoming 60 international students for a joyous Chinese New Year celebration on 27 February 2025. Amidst the decorations and the rhythm of festive melodies, students embraced the spirit of cultural exchange and appreciation in an afternoon filled with laughter, tradition, and new friendships.
The celebration introduced participants to the rich traditions, cultural significance, and symbolic stories behind Chinese New Year. Non-Chinese international students had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the festival, making the event a meaningful and immersive experience.
In addition to the festivities, DISS also provided important updates and guidance for international students. Topics included the latest Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and immigration guidelines, cyber safety and scam awareness, personal safety tips, and examination regulations emphasising academic integrity.
By blending cultural celebration with essential student support, the event ensured that international students not only enjoyed the occasion but also gained valuable information for their academic and personal well-being.
