UTAR collaborates with Pin Hwa and Kuen Cheng High Schools to advance AI education

UTAR signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Pin Hwa High School and Kuen Cheng High School to jointly develop and promote the Emerging Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum. The signing ceremony was held on 28 February 2025 at Pin Hwa High School, Klang, marking a significant step forward in advancing AI education in Chinese independent schools.

The MoA aimed to equip students with  Emerging Technology and AI knowledge that align with the latest trends in AI education. Under this collaboration, UTAR will be responsible for developing teaching materials and providing AI-related training for teachers. Additionally, students who successfully complete the programme will receive certification from UTAR, enhancing their academic and career prospects.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pin Hwa High School Chairman, Dr Chia Song Kun, highlighted the school’s commitment to modernising education. He stated, “By collaborating with UTAR and Kuen Cheng High School, we are creating a superior learning environment where students can engage with emerging technologies during their secondary education. This initiative represents a significant breakthrough in curriculum innovation and sets a new model for technological education.”

UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat emphasised the importance of integrating emerging technologies into the education system. “AI has become a driving force in various industries, transforming sectors such as healthcare, finance, and transportation. Through this partnership, we hope to nurture students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the digital era,” he said.

This MoA reflects UTAR’s ongoing commitment to fostering educational excellence and technological advancement. The university looks forward to welcoming more Independent Chinese schools to join this initiative, ensuring that students across Malaysia benefit from high-quality AI education.
