The vibrant spirit of innovation and community engagement was on full display at UTAR Sungai Long Campus during the highly anticipated Engineering Science and Fiesta: The Return 2025, held from 3 to 6 March 2025. Organised by the UTAR Engineering Society (ES) in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) UTAR Student Section, the four-day fiesta successfully bridged academia and industry through a dynamic celebration of science, engineering, and discovery.

Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, UTAR President, graced the event as a guest of honour and delivered an inspiring opening address on 3 March 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall. In his speech, Prof Dato’ Ewe praised the organisers for creating a vital platform that encourages innovation, lifelong learning, and collaborative synergy among students, educators, and industry players. “Engineering and science are not just about theories in textbooks but about real-world applications that make a difference in society,” he remarked, urging students to embrace curiosity, collaboration, and perseverance in their academic pursuits.
A key highlight of the fiesta was the valued presence of Mr Syafi Zaki, a representative from Zuspresso (M) Sdn Bhd, the event’s main sponsor. His attendance underscored Zuspresso’s commitment to empowering future engineers and supporting educational excellence. Equally instrumental was Ms Tan Wei Ling from Agensi Pekerjaan Jobstore, a collaborator whose support helped create meaningful industry engagement opportunities for students. Their involvement lent significant weight to the occasion, reflecting the collaborative efforts between academia and industry.
Interactive segments such as lucky draws, keynote speeches, a forum session, and competitions like the “Unsinkable Showdown” brought excitement and energy to the event. The culminating day featured a STEM workshop at SMK Bandar Sungai Long, extending the impact of the fiesta to pre-university students and reinforcing UTAR’s outreach in science and engineering education.
Among the distinguished guests who attended the event were Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee, Deputy Dean of the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES); Ir Mohd Arif bin Musa, Engineering Society Adviser; and Loke Edi Son, the dedicated Chairperson of ESF25.
The UTAR Engineering Science and Fiesta 2025 concluded with award presentations, photo sessions, and heartfelt farewells, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
