UTAR hosted an engaging talk titled “How AI and personal strengths shape your career” on 6 March 2025. The talk featured Mr Andrew Wong, CEO & Founder of AWG Agency and a proud UTAR alumnus. The session, held at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, attracted students eager to learn about the evolving job market, the impact of AI, and career opportunities in the insurance industry.

Mr Andrew Wong shared his expertise on the current and future trends in Malaysia’s insurance industry, highlighting how AI is transforming the landscape. He provided deep insights into AI-powered tools and how they serve as game changers in the sector, enhancing customer experience, risk assessment, and business efficiency.
In addition, Mr Andrew Wong introduced a career positioning test using the DISC Personality Test, helping attendees understand their personal strengths and behavioural styles. He explained how this tool can guide individuals in making career decisions, improving workplace relationships, and excelling in the industry. By recognising their dominant personality traits, students gained insights into how they can align their strengths with professional opportunities for greater success.
One of the most valuable aspects of the session was the advice on preparing for life after graduation. Mr Andrew Wong stressed the need for students to stay ahead by upskilling in AI-related technologies, networking, and embracing a growth-oriented mindset. His personal experiences and success story served as motivation for many aspiring professionals.

The event, organised by the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) in collaboration with the Centre for Entrepreneurial Sustainability (CENTS), provided an excellent platform for students to gain industry insights, ask questions, and interact with a seasoned entrepreneur.
