Assoc Prof Dr Inga Koryagina from Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE) was invited by the Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF) to deliver a webinar titled Sustainable Development and BRICS+ Youth Entrepreneurs and Innovators Cooperation on 23 March 2025.
The webinar was attended by THP FBF Dean Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, Head of the Department of Economics Dr Thavamalar Ganapathy, and students from the Master of Business Administration (Corporate Management) programme.
Dr Inga highlighted the vast opportunities for business, educational, and cultural collaboration between Russia, BRICS nations, and African countries. She discussed investment potential in Mordovia, scholarship opportunities at PRUE, and cultural initiatives to foster international partnerships.
Next, she introduced the Russian Export Centre, which facilitates collaboration with Russian companies through its Made in Russia initiative to strengthen global trade relations. She also provided insights into Mordovia, a region with a population of 766,720, identifying key investment sectors, such as clean technology and circular economies, digital solutions, agriculture and food production, and medical innovations.
She further highlighted the International Municipal BRICS Forum, an annual platform addressing key trends and challenges in megacity development.
Regarding educational cooperation, Dr Inga introduced PRUE, which has 20,000 students, 10% of whom are international. The university also operates five international branches in Armenia, Belarus, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and the UAE, further strengthening global academic networks.
On cultural cooperation, she highlighted the Russia-Africa Business and Cultural Relations Centre, which assists African companies with customs clearance and logistics in the agricultural and food sectors. She also introduced initiatives such as Art-Bridge Russia-Africa and the International Children’s Drawing Contest. Another key initiative is the Russia-Africa Club at Lomonosov Moscow State University, established in 2022 to foster collaboration between Russia and African nations in science, culture, education, business, and politics.
During the Q&A session, participants explored opportunities related to Russian exports and overseas investments. Dr Inga encouraged young entrepreneurs to engage in international cultural initiatives, while Dr Au Yong expressed support for future collaborations with PRUE.
The webinar provided valuable insights into BRICS+ cooperation, fostering a deeper understanding of international partnerships in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Assoc Prof Dr Inga Koryagina is from the Marketing Department at PRUE and serves as the Director of International Development for the Russian-African Club at Lomonosov Moscow State University. Founded in 1907, PRUE is Russia’s oldest university specialising in economics and the country’s largest institution for economic education. Since its establishment, it has produced over 180,000 graduates, known as Plekhanovets.
