UTAR and Xi’an Kedagaoxin University collaborate for academic excellence

UTAR strengthened its international partnerships by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Xi’an Kedagaoxin University on 24 March 2025 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Xi’an Kedagaoxin University President and Chairman Prof Sun Longjie.

The collaboration aims to promote academic exchanges, joint research, student and staff mobility programmes, and industrial training opportunities. Through this partnership, both institutions will work together to enhance educational quality and foster cross-cultural learning experiences.

Prof Dato’ Ewe welcomed the delegation from Xi’an Kedagaoxin University and highlighted UTAR’s commitment to international collaboration, with over 790 global partners, including 190 in China. He expressed confidence that the partnership would foster academic exchanges, joint research, and talent development, particularly in faculty and student mobility, curriculum innovation, and research advancements. He looked forward to meaningful collaborations that will benefit both universities and contribute to global education.

Prof Sun highlighted the alignment of educational philosophies between Xi’an Kedagaoxin University and UTAR, emphasising their shared commitment to innovation and international collaboration. Prof Sun expressed optimism that the collaboration with UTAR will provide students with greater academic and professional opportunities, while also fostering joint research in emerging fields such as renewable energy and intelligent systems.

Also present at the event were Xi’an Kedagaoxin University Vice President Assoc Prof Wang Fubao, Office of International Development Director Mr Liu Fu, School of Science and Engineering Lecturer Ms Feng Qian, Special Assistant to the Chairman Mr Sun Dongxuan and International College Imperia CEO Mr Lim Jee Yat.

UTAR representatives were Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Centre for Extension Education Director Assoc Prof Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Director Mr Lee Choy Fong, Assistant Manager Ms Tan Yik Hien and Office of International Affair Assistant Manager Ms Goo Yi Qun.
