UTAR is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof Dr Zuraidah Binti Abd Manaf as the new Vice President of Research and Development and Commercialisation (RDC), effective 1 May 2025. She succeeds Prof Ts. Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, who has served in this role with distinction.
Prof Zuraidah brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She has been serving as the Director of UTAR's Division of Strategy and Performance Measurement, where she has played a pivotal role in advancing the university's strategic initiatives. Her academic journey began at Universiti Teknologi MARA in 1999, where she held various academic administrative roles, including Coordinator, Head of Program, and Deputy Dean of Academic and Internationalisation. Notably, she chaired the Information Science Standard Program under the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
From 2015 to 2020, Prof. Dr. Zuraidah was seconded to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, as the Director for the Citation and Informatics Division (formerly known as Malaysia Citation Center). In this capacity, she chaired various national and ASEAN-level committees and contributed to initiatives such as SETARA, MAPIM, Big Data, e-portfolio, Read@Uni, Konsortium Pangkalan Data Elektronik Perpustakaan Universiti Awam Malaysia, Education 4th IR, Malaysia Research Star Award, and the ASEAN Citation Index Committee.
Her areas of expertise include bibliometrics, organisation of information, digitisation and preservation of cultural heritage information, and security and risk management for digital resources.
In her new role as Vice President of R&D and Commercialisation, Prof Zuraidah will oversee the management of research and development activities, the advancement of postgraduate programs, and the enhancement of ICT infrastructure to support research, teaching, learning, and administrative needs. Her leadership is expected to further strengthen UTAR's commitment to fostering a robust research ecosystem and promoting the commercialisation of innovative solutions that benefit society.
UTAR extends its heartfelt congratulations to Prof Zuraidah on her appointment and looks forward to her contributions in steering the university towards greater heights in research excellence and innovation.
