Workshop equips students for event planning and leadership

The Global Economics Society (GES) organised a workshop titled Plan, Lead, Succeed: The Event Journey from Planner to Leader on 24 April 2025, attended by 30 students. The workshop, conducted by GES Advisor Mr Low Choon Wei, aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of event management, covering key stages from pre-event preparation to event-day execution and post-event evaluation.

Throughout the workshop, Mr Low shared practical insights, strategies, and best practices drawn from his experience in organising various academic and student activities. Students learned how to plan effectively, manage logistics and responsibilities on event day, and conduct meaningful post-event reviews to ensure continuous improvement.

To reinforce their learning, students were divided into groups and tasked with proposing and planning events under four categories, namely community service, academic, social, and entertainment. The hands-on activity allowed participants to apply the concepts learned during the workshop while fostering teamwork, creativity, and strategic thinking.

The session was interactive, with students engaging in lively discussions and presenting their event proposals. Many participants expressed that the workshop had equipped them with valuable knowledge and confidence to lead and organise student activities more effectively in the future. The group with the best proposed activity received small prizes as a token of recognition for their creativity and effort.
