UTAR and BMCF strengthen ties through Deed of Donation signing

UTAR and the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation (BMCF) reaffirmed their shared commitment to supporting education through UTAR-Jinbodhi Deed of Donation (DOD) Signing Ceremony. During the ceremony, BMCF contributed a total of RM600,000 to UTAR for the Jinbodhi Bursary.

The event also celebrated the awarding of the Jinbodhi Bursary to 19 deserving UTAR students from the June and October 2024 intakes. Among the recipients from the Sungai Long Campus were Kong Huey Shan, Ti Sook Chin, Disney Quah, Leaw Pui Sun, and Cheah Yan Yi.

Held on 2 May 2025 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, the ceremony was attended by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee and Faculty of Creative Industries Dean Assoc Prof Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng. Representing BMCF were its Chairman Teacher Ling Shan, and Board of Trustee Teacher Fu Han. They were accompanied by committee members Brother Xu Te, Brother Wen Jun, Sister Dong Cao, Sister Wen You, Sister You Qi, Sister Guang Chang, and Sister Miao Hui.

In his speech, Prof Dato’ Ewe expressed heartfelt appreciation to BMCF. “We are sincerely grateful for BMCF’s continued generosity. The Jinbodhi Bursary not only eases the financial burden for our students but also inspires them to persevere in their academic pursuits and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

Teacher Ling Shan echoed similar sentiments in her speech, highlighting the power of compassion and the importance of nurturing the next generation.

Another highlight of the event was the heartfelt sharing by two student recipients, who delivered live speeches to express their gratitude. Kong Huey Shan, a student of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Graphic Design and Multimedia, shared how the bursary had lightened her financial burden and motivated her to excel academically and creatively. Ti Sook Chin, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Actuarial Science student thanked BMCF for enabling her to pursue her dreams without the constant stress of financial constraints.
